Funny Camera (previously YayCam) is like a modern day house of mirrors, contorting and distorting your face into all kinds of weird and wonderful (or a touch scary) poses.
Selfies are a thing. Everyone is obsessed with touching up their pictures with a range of image editing tools to make themselves look as beautiful as possible so they can share their lovely picture with the world. Funny Camera is not all about making yourself look beautiful; it’s quite the opposite – it makes you look weird and scary, but it sure is fun.
There are tons of whacky ways you can change your face included in Funny Camera. The lens option zooms in on individual parts of your face and shows them really close up. It’s a funny effect but it’s not for anyone who has a complex about the way they look! There are loads of warp features including the ability to (supposedly) make yourself look happy and the imaginatively named cucumber. I’m not entirely sure what cucumber is meant to do but it sure does make your face look strange. The “sad” option is one of my favorites as it gave me a gigantic forehead and strange nose.
The fun doesn’t end with these features, Funny Camera has tons more to offer. The nervous option makes the camera jump around while picking up on (and intensifying) all the little tics you have but maybe haven’t spotted. It’s tough to pinpoint exactly what it does to make you look so nervous but it’s super effective. Then there is the vertigo option, which speeds up your camera speed. It’s not something I’ve seen in a camera app before and is unusual (in a good way), but be warned that it may make you sick.
If you really want to you can even take a normal photo, but where would the fun in that? But it’s not just for photos, you can also record videos of yourself with these crazy filters while distorting your voice to make you sound like a helium inhaling chipmunk.
Easy to use, difficult to forget
Arranged into a user friendly, up and down scrolling menu, Funny Camera is intuitive and easy to use. It’s also speedy to take photos even with all the filters applied. The filters are all really quirky and unique, meaning you’ll love playing around with them with your friends.
Once you’ve taken photos of your now-ugly face, they are saved in the in-app gallery, or you can share them via all the usual channels. If you want to check out other people’s efforts, the gallery menu contains all the latest and greatest videos (but not photos) for your perusal. Unfortunately you can’t like or comment on them from within the app, a social element which Funny Camera lacks.
Hours of silly fun
If you don’t take the way you look too seriously, and you want to have some silly fun by applying some quirky but well-designed filters, then you will love Funny Camera. It’s so easy to use that the app doesn’t need a tutorial and, if you want to be entertained some more after you’ve distorted your face into all manner of crazy poses, then the ability to check out the whacky videos that other users have shared is a real bonus.
